Workers Concern to Amend the Foreign Employment Act 2064 in Nepal

Kathmandu-South Asian Regional Trade Union Council (SARTUC) concluded the discussion program on 26th June 2016 in Kathmandu, Nepal to gather the workers concern to amend the employment Act 2064. High level officials were participated in the discussion program from Ministry of Labour and Employment, Joint Trade Union Coordination Center (JTUCC) and recruiters.

South Asian Regional Trade Union Council (SARTUC) concluded the discussion program on 26th June 2016 in Kathmandu, Nepal to gather the workers concern to amend the employment Act 2064. High level officials were participated in the discussion program from Ministry of Labour and Employment, Joint Trade Union Coordination Center (JTUCC) and recruiters. Total 11 trade unions are registered in Labor department according to its' record and all are involved in the JTUCC. In the opening session, General-Secretary of SARTUC Mr. Laxman Basnet, Coordinator of Foreign Employment Act 2064 Amendment committee Mr. Surya Sharestha and President of NAFEA Mr. Bimal Dhakal talked about the situation of the amendment. Mr. Khila Nath Dahal, President of JTUCC as well as President of Nepal Trade Union Congress (NTUC) chaired in the opening session. Mr. Madhu Bilas Pandit from Ministry of Labour and Employment presented the paper and aware the participants about the different provision of this act. After his session all the participants express their thought to amend the act. Ms. Bharti Sharma Pokahrel from ILO also participated in the program.
